Designer Glasses Combine Style and Functionality
Posted on July 25th, 2009 No commentsChoosing new glasses or sunglasses changes the way you look. Not only do glasses help you to see better, but they can be a fashion statement too.You want to know that your glasses look great on you as well as being comfortable and functional, and for this reason more and more people are choosing to go for designer frames.
There is a seemingly endless selection of different designer styles in all shapes and sizes, colours and materials. The seemingly endless options can be a little overwhelming. You should know what sort of image you want to present before choosing new designer glasses. For work wear a more sensible and plain style may be more appropriate. If you want to make a statement and go for bright unrestrained glasses there are dozens of recognised designer brands out there, including Prada glasses for example that combine an intrinsic sense of style with the name recognition that is more of a fashion and lifestyle statement. Whichever way you lean, choose designer glasses to suit the shape of your face and not just your outfits or your desired social standing. The same is true when choosing designer sunglasses.
People with a square face look best in oval shaped or round glasses. If your face is wider at the top a smaller style of frame will look best, with low sides and either rounded or square. Don’t go for a style which widens at the top as they will only exaggerate your face shape, as will frames with decoration at the sidse or temples. Round Faces with a fairly short, wide forehead, full cheeks and a rounded chin will benefit from styles that are wider.Small rounded styles and any large frames should be avoided as they will only make your face look more round.
If your face is a basic oval shape with a slightly wider forehead, curved jaw and high cheekbones you’re lucky and can take your pick of any style as most will suit you.A long face with high cheekbones and a deep forehead will look good with wider glasses that have a stronger top line. A larger, square frame will help balance a long oval face, although you should avoid small square shapes. If you have a relatively narrow forehead and eye line, broadening into the jaw line, then pick bold or adventurous designer styles to add balance, but steer clear of small narrow frames.
With designer sunglasses in particular, remember that, aside from making you look good, the primary role of these items is still to protect your eyes from the harmful effects of UV radiation. If possible you should try the frames on to be sure they look and feel good. Never forget that, despite the fact that they have a designer label which is a public statement of your desired public persona, ultimately the only one you have to please be yourself!
